Victor Ekpuk Book Launch, Demas Nwoko Symposium, For LABAF 2019

 

 

 

 

 

The seven day Lagos Book and Art Festival (LABAF), every November, features a vibrant visual art segment, including cutting edge exhibitions, art book launches and conversations around visual art making, presentation and marketing.

The 21st LABAF from November 4 to 10, 2019 includes a presentation of Victor Ekpuk: Connecting Lines Across Space and Time, a book edited and produced by the renown professor of history,  Toyin Falola, captures the full essence of Ekpuk’s work as an artist of global reputation, “a master of mysterious scripts, and ancient signs and symbols. His messages, encrypted in symbols and signs inspired by nsibidi, find expression in paintings, illustrations, cartoons and murals.

The book  presentation, scheduled for Tuesday November 5, 2019 at 2pm, is to  to be followed by a conversation featuring the artist and a few other art historians and curators.

….. The Demas Nwoko Symposium Comes Earlier…

Preceeding the Victor Ekpu Book Launch  is the opening of a 2-day symposium on the application of critical design and technology in practice and through education. The symposium will feature a parley to introduce the subject and the collective, led with a keynote by eminent architect, protean artist and designer, Demas Nwoko.
